Woman in Grave Condition Following Seattle Crosswalk Accident

Posted on Mar 20, 2010
A 45-year-old woman was involved in a serious Seattle crosswalk accident near the University of Washington.  The woman was crossing the street at the intersection of NE 45th Street and 36th Avenue NE in the University District.  NE 45th Street is a very busy five lane road in that area.

The woman began crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when a car traveling east on NE 45th Street hit her.  The woman was in the marked crosswalk when this Washington car v. pedestrian accident happened.

As a result of the impact the woman suffered serious and life threatening injuries.  The injuries were so severe that emergency responders had to give the woman CPR and she was rushed to Harborview Medical Center for urgent care.

Our office sends our prayers and well wishes to the pedestrian.  We once again urge all pedestrians to be extra careful while on the road, especially when you are crossing it.  Always cross the road from the designated area, only after you have checked that no vehicle is coming.  It is a good idea to check the road a couple of times before stepping off the sidewalk to cross a busy street, even if you're in a marked crosswalk with a walk indicator illuminated.  More and more vehicle drivers are distracted by cellphones, Ipods and countless other things.  Exercising extra caution may just save you from serious injury or even save your life.
