Yelm Motorcycle Rider Rear-Ended Resulting in Life Flight

Posted on Mar 21, 2010
James Stilton of Yelm, Washington was out for a Saturday ride on his 1997 Harley Davidson when he was involved in a serious Washington motorcycle accident.  Mr. Stilton was riding northbound on Vail Road when he slowed to make a left hand turn onto Hannus Road.  A Dodge Ram pick-up truck was driving behind Mr. Stilton and failed to notice him slowing to make the left turn.

The driver of the truck, a 26 year-old Yelm man was not paying attention and slammed into the rear of Mr. Stilton's Harley.  As you can image a large pick-up truck hitting the rear of a motorcycle resulted in a very serious collision.  Mr. Stilton suffered serious injuries as a result of this Washington motorcycle accident and was airlifted from the accident scene to Harborview Medical Center.

The truck driver was arrested and will likely face vehicular assault charges.

The 2010 motorcycle season is well under way and unfortunately car and truck drivers are not noticing the increase in motorcycles on the road.  If you ride, please do all you can to make your self visible, wear bright color clothing and reflective clothing.  Nobody wants their summer ruined by trying to recover from the broken bones and other serious injuries that follow Washington motorcycle accident injuries or worse.

Ride Safe!
