$200,000 Policy Limits Settlement in Motorcycle Rear-End Accident

Man was riding his motorcycle with his girlfriend on the back of the bike.  Man and his girlfriend were hit from behind by another motorcycle.  The impact through our clients to the roadway causing multiple serious injuries.  The girlfriend suffered a broken thigh bone and the boyfriend suffered several broken ribs and injury to his left knee tendons that required surgery.

Both clients’ incurred substantial medical bills; the combined total was in excess of $115,000.  The person at fault only had $100,000 insurance coverage for each client.  Our clients received the maximum available, which was $100,000 per person for a total of $200,000.

The $200,000 that was available to the clients was not enough to fully compensate them for all the injuries they suffered in the accident.  The health insurance companies were claiming they were entitled to be reimbursed for the medical bills they paid. If the health insurance was reimbursed it would have left little money for our clients to actually put in their pocket.  We challenged the health insurance company’s right to recover the bills they paid and convinced them they were wrong.  In the end our clients did not have to repay anything to the health insurance company.
