Client, a fire fighter, was the front seat passenger in a car that was rear-ended by another car going 50-60 mph on I-405 near Bellevue, Washington during heavy stop and go traffic congestion. Our client suffered two disc herniations in his low back that caused him to suffer daily pain in his low back, left buttock and numbness in his left thigh. As a firefighter our client had a job that required him to be in good, strong physical condition. The injuries threatened our client’s job, but fortunately he was able to keep work light duty while he recovered from his injuries.
Our client had over $30,000 in medical bills and it took more than two years for him to finally find some relief from his daily low back pain. We obtained the full limits of the at fault party’s insurance of $50,000. We then made a claim under our client’s own insurance, under the client’s Underinsured Motorist coverage (UIM). We obtained an additional $85,000 settlement under the client’s UIM claim. Our client received a total settlement of $135,000.
